Dear Members
and Friends,
First let me offer a big Welcome to our new neighbors and members. We have many new people who have moved into Ward One - especially the new homes in Acton Landing. And a big 'Thank You' to the many residents and business owners who have worked this last year to sustain the culture and beauty of Annapolis. Our Alderman, Richard Israel has been working on our behalf - and we greatly appreciate his tireless efforts on behalf of all residents.
This next year we will face a number of challenges. There is a growing concern that some of our city officials are pushing Annapolis in the wrong direction. We live here, we pay taxes, and we all chose Annapolis for its historic, maritime character. Annapolis is a jewel of a city and we do not want Annapolis to degrade into an 'Ocean City' look alike. Our objectives are quite clear: we want Annapolis to be a safe city; we want Annapolis to preserve and encourage its maritime heritage; we do not want Annapolis to be a city of 100 2 AM bars, or a city that only caters to larger and larger events. We want this to be a livable city with grocery stores, pharmacies, diverse (interesting) retail stores, and great activities and events for residents and visitors that exemplify the historic nature of our town.
Your Ward One Association needs your active involvement. Come on board, pick an issue that you feel strongly about, and help us keep Annapolis Annapolis. We have great social events so you can meet new neighbors and renew old friendships; we have excellent member meetings where you can hear from urban planning experts and can learn about the key programs that will affect the livability of Annapolis.
We represent Residents and business owners - we want a healthy business environment and we want to be a great destination for visitors. Take a look at our issues page - see if there are things where you want to get involved. Or at the least, come to our social events and help us build a strong, friendly community in Annapolis
